Rainbows and shamrocks !

Hello everyone !

We are all about rainbows at my house . We have done our share with snow men activities, but things need some brightening up. We still have snow in Swift Current Saskatchewan , Canada . I’m sick of the snow and I have decided to brighten things up with rainbows . I’m doing a craft challenge with lovely Uk bloggers Called #Get your craft on. They do a challenge every month and this months challenge is St Patrick’s Day! I have decided to do a shamrock pin( you can use it for whatever you wish). I like the history of the shamrock . St Patrick used it as a tool to teach the Irish of the Holy Trinity. I have not done this craft yet with the kids yet. The one shown is just my sample . Children ages from 2 and up should be able to this craft with some assistance . I got this idea from a craft magazine called “Kids Crafts 123”. The pin was of hearts . Here is a photo of the shamrock pin image
I think it turned out pretty cute ! They are pretty simple and quick . They are made out of cupcake liners . This is what you will need image
School glue or a good quality glue stick

Mini cupcake liners ( you could use the regular size but it will result in a bigger pin)

Shamrock stickers

Glitter glue ( optional but the little ones like it at my house ).

Dabbers like you use for bingo ( you could use water colours or other paint that you have on hand)

Safety pin or magnet ( if you want to put it on the fridge)

Take your cupcake liners and flatten them . Colour each liner a different colour ( red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple) . I did shaped them with scissors and punched holes in them( you do not have to do this ). Stack the liners in order of the rainbow, putting glue between each liner . Put a shamrock sticker on top . The last thing is to attach the pin in the back. That is it ! Easy peasy ! I have more things to show you but I will leave it till next time !

Till we meet again !

Happy Valentines day!

Hello Everyone!
I have been meaning to post earlier this week but I got sick over the weekend and closed my dayhome for two days to rest . I’m glad that I spread out my valentine crafts and activities over the past three weeks .

This morning we made Chocolate play dough . I came across chocolate play dough recipe over a year ago on Learning4kids.net . I meant to make it many times , but I get distracted on wanting to try something else out. Well I did it today and I must say it sure was a hit . Play dough has always been a favorite thing at my day home , but when you put Cocoa powder and glitter and vanilla flavouring in it , it’s makes it so much more special . I had kids 18 months to age seven and they played with it for two hours . The 18 month old kept smelling it and saying to me “Cookies” ! It did really smell good . The oldest one said it smelled like chocolate cake ! I set out cookies cutters , buttons, faux gems and sequins. A few weeks ago I bought a heart-shaped box of chocolates and ate most of them( my family had a few ). I bought the chocolates so I could have the box for this activity . I got the idea from The Imagination tree . image
I’m sure glad I kept the box. The children were delighted to fill it and decorate the “chocolates “. Thanks Imagination Tree for the idea!
We made a cute card yesterday . I saw something similar on Pinterest and I do not know who did it . I apologize that I can not give the thanks to . It’s a butterfly with heart-shaped doily wings and the body the shape of a child’s foot . The thing was I could not find any heart-shaped doilies in my small city , so I did what any woman would do , I made my own heart shaped doilies . I used a hole punch and cut out tiny heart shapes all over . The kids did the rest . I think they turned out pretty adorable . image

Today I had some kids that did not take part of all my activities and valentine crafts from the past few weeks so they made some last-minute ones . They made their moms in no time at all , but they were wanting to make some thing for dad that was suitable for him. I asked what things does your Dad like and they said “Star Wars ”
. So this what we came up with( thanks to Pinterest ;))image

I hope you had a great Valentines Day ! I sure did !

Till next Time !

Valentines is only a week away

Hello Everyone!

Well it is a Friday night and I am at home . I was out earlier with my husband for supper. We went to out to our favorite restaurant and had curry . Yummy . Then we went back home to relax in front of the T.V.

The rest of this week was still too cold to take out the kids outside to play. There is always something for them to do. As you may know already that the little kiddos have been making Valentine decorations and cards. They also discovered that drawings pictures on a big roll of paper is really fun . I got this idea from http://nurturestore.co.uk. If you are looking for simple play ideas go check them out . image
The picture shown is of the drawing the kids did . They love doing this and we have been colouring on the floor all week . It is frugal fun for the kids . We have been baking this week as well . What kid does not like home-baked treats . We made Rice Krispies Cake( Gluten Free) , Chocolate chips cookies( Gluten Free) and we make marshmallow pops that every body is making on the internet lately .

We made more Valentine cards ( the little one love making them ) . Here is a picture!image
I call them Wild For You Hearts . We imageare going to glue them in Card stock . The kids loved ripping the tape and putting it on. I used a designed masking tape I purchase at the dollar store. I still want to but the ever famous Washi tape , but I live in a really small city that does not have much .

I have one last little craft for you to share . It is a collage made of hearts . My little buddy and I used a paper plate that we painted in pink and purple. I had a big stack of the kids watercolour paintings that I was keeping for something . The cut the paintings into hearts . My little buddy glued the hearts on to the plate . We finished it off with a sprinkle of glitter ( glitter always seems to be apart of our projects ) here is a picture image
I think it my little buddy did an awesome job! I hope some of these ideas might spark your interest . I hopefully will show more valentine crafts and activities before Tuesday but I’m not promising anything . The women who blog sure make it look easy . I’m stumbling through it that’s for sure . I know one day everything will click together . These crafts that I show are ideas I have seen . I do not claim that the ideas are my own they are my twist on the things I see . If I know for sure where I have seen an idea I will give credit to that blog or site . I have seen so much stuff out there that I do not always remember where I have seen it . I hope that makes sense to you all . Well I better turn in because it is 12:15 Saturday morning ! Nighty night:)

Till next time

We are Getting Our Craft On with Valentines

Hello ! Good Evening!

It’s still pretty cold out here in Swift Current, Saskatchewan , Canada . Today it is not as cold as it has been but it was – 25 Celsius , still too cold for the little ones to be outside . We have been keeping busy playing hide n seek ,dancing and musical pillows( our version of musical chairs). We also have been doing lots of crafting . We have been doing lots of valentine crafts . I have discovered that the little ones like making valentine cards. Here is one I’m going to share for #GetYourCraftOn. It’s a Facebook group with fellow crafters . image</a
This card involves the little one favorite thing , Painting ! Two weeks ago I made some liquid water paints from dried out markers and they loved them . This card involves oil pastel and watercolour resist that the little ones discovered last week . They were excited to make the heart appear when you add the water-colour
We used watercolour paper and I cut the paper into quarters and folded them in half . The little ones wanted me draw their hearts on with white oil pastel ( the little ones are not able to do their own ). Now is the fun part the little ones started to paint and make their hearts appear.image
As you can tell they enjoyed it . The picture above is of my little niece who will be two on Valentines Day! . She loved making the card but she was more interested in painting the scrap piece of paper under it ! The most important thing is that she was having fun. I hope to put more of the crafts we have been doing . This blog adventure has been a little challenge . I have been trying to figure out all terminology . I apologize for the lack of knowledge of setting is post up , but I’m trying 🙂

Till next time !:)

Feeling the love for Valentines

Hello 🙂
Boy a week goes by fast. We all been stuck in the house and I think we are ( mainly me lol ) getting a little bit of cabin fever . It happens when you live in Saskatchewan, Canada. Just because a person can not enjoy the great outdoors does not mean you can not have fun . I have been busy with the kiddos with different activities . This is time of year when you are seeing hearts in all shapes and sizes of pink and red. We have been doing valentines cards , paper plate heart wreath and crayon art heart wall hangings ( inspired from>Happyhooligans.ca) Today I want to share a cute little heart wreath made out of paper plates. These will be perfect to make for a play date , or just because . Just check out how cute these are !imageThese are super simple and fun to make. I had six kiddos at my dayhome when we made these(ages 2through 6 ) and they all loved them .

Materials are :

Paper plates ( purchased mine at dollerama)
Tissue paper cut in one to two inch squares ( pink , purple and red
Tacky glue
Glue stick
Glitter glue
Jewelled hearts or gems
Hole punch and yarn or ribbon

I cut the heart shape out a head of time , but older kids can do this . Take your glue stick and put it on the paper plate and then put on the tissue paper . Do this till the heart is covered with tissue paper. Next is the glitter glue . My two yearolds could squeeze the glitter on the heart and spread it with a paint brush . Then glue on hearts ( I used Elmer’s tacky glue ) . Punch out the hole with a hole puncher and add yarn or ribbon to hang it up . That is it , easy peasy.

Till next time dear

play dough mayhem

Hello !
It was sure Monday today . Started back to work today from Christmas holidays . I missed the little ones so much . I just had a few tears from one little guy when his mamma left ( it can be a tough transition for the little one coming back from holidays ). The crying came to a halt when I asked him if he wanted to make play dough with me.

I make my dough . It is more cost effective for me running a day home . Last night I went to the corner store to get cream of tartar . I use it to make the play dough . I prefer using it , I have tried other rrecipes that do not have it and I did not like them At All.  Guess what happened when I got to the store? Yep they were out of it ( just my luck) ! I was not going to to another store ( it was -30degrees and I was tired ). I went back home,  got out my new tablet I got for Christmas from my hubby and googled a recipe for play dough without the cream of tartar). I found a recipe I liked , it uses vinegar in  place of the cream of tartar  .  This recipe can be found at Momalwaysfindsout.com ( I love the name of this blog !) The little one who was sad helped me with  the dough and it was made very quickly. The little ones were at the table making cookies ,snow men ,cakes and snakes.  They were playing with it for over an hour . Play dough is one of my favorite activities for the kids to do . It is so versatile . I really liked it today caused it kept them occupied while I made lunch.   This recipe will be made a again when I’m out of cream of tartar. I do recommend this one.

Till next time
